The reef-makers
Founded by designers Lilou and Emil, MyReefs is an ocean conservation non-profit based in Nice, France. Where it all started with one question:
What if the next generation didn't just inherit the Ocean, but chose to protect it?
MyReefs (loi 1901) is born through Objective Ocean by BESIGN The Sustainable Design School, a partnership to explore marine conservation projects ahead of the United Nations Ocean Conference in June 2025.

We ran our first pilot workshop in Nice, followed by our first festival with a PhD marine biologist and support from the Métropole. We also published a research report with input from 14+ marine biologists, scuba divers, ceramists and researchers.

After presenting at the UN Ocean Conference, we received support from organisations across the Mediterranean. Now we're experimenting and refining our ceramic reefs on the Côte d'Azur, with our first real ocean tests.
Three principles behind every workshop, every reef, and every conversation we have about the ocean.
Your impact is visible.
Your ceramic reef creation has a coordinate. Your energy, time and money has a story, and you can follow it all the way to the seabed.
We lead with what's possible.
Clear next steps for individuals and communities to take tangible, direct, positive action in Ocean conservation.
Curiosity travels further than guilt.
We make caring for the Ocean something you'd choose on a Sunday. An engaging experience exploring our colourful, unique Mediterranean ecosystems, while sculpting clay.
